According to the Brigade Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Basil Adoke would be aimed at addressing security challenges in the state and its environs.
The Army boss who spoke at a reception, organised by the state government as part of activities marking 57th Independent Anniversary yesterday, said the action would be in place in the next couple of days across the state and environs as a step up tempo targeted at miscreants.
Adoke, however, urged residents not to entertain any fear when the operation starts, stressing that “though, the state is said to be peaceful but we still have some miscreants that have been identified and needed to be flushed out.” He explained that the security strategy would be a replica of “operation python dance” introduced in Abia State to silence criminals in the state and its environs.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun commended the efforts of the various security agencies in the state and pledged his administration’s continued support to them, stressing that no criminal would be allowed to operate freely in the state. He said, “anybody or group that would divide the country should not be allowed and called on all Nigerians to remain united.
Meanwhile at another report, Special Counsel/Solicitor to Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has faulted reports of a possible negotiation with the Federal Government over Kanu’s trial.
He told The news source (Guardian) on phone last night, that there was no truth in the story, stressing that an attempted negotiation over Biafra agitation, which Kanu started with the southeast government was truncated following the invasion of his house by soldiers that led to loss of lives.
He added that the whereabouts of his client has remained unknown since the invasion, adding that already they had filed actions in court compelling the Federal Government to produce Kanu.
He said: “How can you negotiate with someone we don’t know whether he is dead wounded, captured or whatever. It does not arise at all.’’
Also, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) said yesterday that the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the ongoing military operation in the southeast zone would not dim the agitation for Biafra.
Leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, said in a statement made available to The reporters in Enugu that the group remains committed to the realisation of Biafra, stressing that those obtaining court orders to stop the activities of the group were merely wasting their time.
