The preacher by the spirit tells us to guard or put-protection over our heart like a mission for all time. He says this mission is greater than anything else, because once this mission is not strengthened of effective enough, then the misery or trouble of the external world will begin to make an impact imprint on the inside or inner world and Christianity, salvation, attitude, purpose and all of the good of the spiritual is homed or housed in the inner world or person.
Guard your heart he says, put protection or gates over the real you. What gate or protectors is he talking about, in Psalms 119:11, the Psalmist shows us about the gates or protectors that can guard the inner world or the real deal. He says, “thy world have I hid in mine heart that i might not sin against thee.” So, he shows us that the gate or protectors that the inner world or man needs is the word of God.
The word have I hid in the inner being so that the outward influence would gain no victory over it/me.
The word ‘HID’ is a past tense of hide so we’ll focus on the word hide. Hide – put or keep out of sight, (2) conceal, (3) A concealed shelter used to observe wildlife at close quarters. Lets go with the 3rd definition.
Thy word have I concealed in my heart as a shelter used to observe. i.e. notice the details, watch carefully (the times, tide, situations, action and attitudes of every being, seasons and thought). Make a remark that speaks or think, obey an instruction law or rule and lastly to Celebrate how to enjoy victory or glory, success, peace and life or take part in a festival or ritual show us what to be involved in with who and how.
Now we see that the word covers all things pertaining to life on the inner world that influence our decisions, choices, events and actions or the outward.
He says that the word is the protector or gate put there to notice and responds to the wild life of the external when it comes in contact with your inner being i.e. the real you.
If we’ve not spent enough time in fellowship with the lord through his word, i.e if the word of God has not influenced our heart deeply, we might seek out personal strengths, victories or revenge.
One of the problems of man is that we always like to fight for ourselves. We feel and think we have the right to sought out our own issues and it is an unconscious response that is triggered in many times. It came from our fighting spiritual. But not all battle are fought with physical strength or words. Some battles are fought with principles, love, endurance and meekness. Some are fought with power of silence; quiet, confidence rooted in deep spiritual principles.
Isaiah 30:15 – 16 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. 16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. (KJV).
From these scriptures, we see how that we have a different path and play by different sets of rules. He says there is another rule that you have to walk by that is different from the rules the world uses. And that rule is found in the way of peace, i.e. quiet confidence in rest, but your actions of peace deals out the power and results.
Today, you may have been guarding your heart not from the wrong aspect, this why you are toss by little things that put down your defenses. But today, I encourage you to guard your heart with God words and let this be your walking path.
