Power In Affliction
2 Corinthians 12:7 “And lest I should be exalted above measure. there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure….
12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses…
It would surprise you to think that affliction, depravity, conflicts and all manner of circumstances coming at you is just exactly what you need to keep journeying on the path of glory you’ve been set in.
There’re Christians who have thought themselves to become those who settle afflictions and conflicts, but sometimes you need to know why the situation is there and have continued to re-occur in yours and in that person’s life. A baby Christian could think this situation is better if you just run from this person or place.
But what do you do when the situation keeps running back to your life and Peace all the time? Is it to run? No! It is to discern that this is your thorn in the flesh.
The Apostle makes us see a picture here how that in an area where he got his greatest purpose like in the area where you’ve gotten your greatest ministry, breakthrough, favour or power have become the same area where a thorn has been planted in your life and have refused to go.
A repeat of conflict with that person yearly, a lack of acknowledgement from others where you seem to shine most, a health challenge that keeps reoccurring, a child you prayed to get as your greatest joy that never comes, or came but has now become a pain in your life, a lack you keep experiencing and on and on it goes.
What is the picture here?
Not everything will change in your life. *It is a hard gospel, but it is the truth.* Three times he sought the Lord on this thorn, but God never removed it. Paul had to come to terms where he decided to be at Peace with himself, knowing like you and I that this thorn was meant to keep him like you in touch with your humanity, because humanity is a cloth of incompleteness. And God says to him like to you and I, My grace is with you to Enjoy the thorn
